August 2010: This gallery contains photos from a journey through Nicaragua in 2010. After bouncing out of the capital of Managua as quickly as possible, we embarked on a volcano tour — Masaya, Concepción, and the ruins of León Viejo. I chronicled our arduous hike to the summit of one of Central America’s most active volcanos, Concepción, on the island of Ometepe in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. I even created a photo sphere at the caldera. We visited the town of Granada just in time for a running of the bulls, and captured a day in the life of Poneloya, a small beach community on the country’s west coast.
